Patient Registries and Observational Studies: Strategic and Operational Considerations
Registries and other observational studies are increasingly used in the pharmaceutical industry to inform decisions about safety, appropriate use, and the effectiveness of medications in the “real world.” They are also included in certain Risk Evaluation and Mitigation Strategies (REMS) in which specific safe use conditions must be verified and tracked. The most successful registries are those that are scientifically and strategically sound, that are operationally cost-efficient, and that are sensitive to the busy medical practice settings in which they are generally deployed. This program provides insights and best practices for operating registries in the most optimal manner.
